Ironic Vintage YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK BEAR & SIGN RRP PHOTO Super Framing

Retired from antique business where we participated in three high end shows per year in Sun Valley Idaho and Jackson Hole Wyoming. Selling remaining inventory here for investment costs or less. Worth checking back at my auctions though be patient; just listing 2 – 3 items per day. THIS OFFERING: One of the most sought after categories of vintage RPPCs – Real Photo Postcard images of Yellowstone, especially bears: Here an ironic and lucky historical photo of a warning sign that Yellowstone is bear country with an actual bear at its side. RPPCs usually began with a lucky photographer’s image (professional or not) and are then taken to be developed into a limited set of cards to be sent to friends. At times they were purchased by professional entities, but even then production was limited. CONDITION: “Used” as in antique; NOT abused. Real photo postcard (ironic photo of Yellowstone Park Sign : “Yellowstone is Bear Country,” with bear standing right next to it in lucky historical shot. YNP bears are considered rare and sought after image cards. In excellent condition and vibrant color. NOTE: FRAMING IS REALLY SPECIAL WHICH PHOTOS DO NOT CAPTURE. Art matte has slight sheen which mirrors the attached silver lining of bright lacquer frame. Consult photos. They are considered part of the description. BUT know it’s very difficult to photograph through glass – expect angled shots and reflections. Way, way nicer in hand. One reason the YNP bear (and bears with tourists) images are especially collectible is that the park service has “reconditioned” both bears and tourists away from this potentially dangerous behavior. THIS OFFERING: One of the most sought after categories of vintage RPPCs – Real Photo Postcard images of Yellowstone: three bears standing around a mid-century convertible. The travelers are standing in the car feet from the animals. Begging bear climbing the car door to beg and peering in at the tourists. RPPCs usually began with a lucky photographer’s image (professional or not) and are then taken to be developed into a limited set of cards to be sent to friends. At times they were purchased by professional entities, but even then production was limited. One reason the YNP bear and car images are especially collectible is that the park service has “reconditioned” both bears and tourists away from this potentially dangerous behavior. Iconic Mid-Century YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK BEARS RPPC Framed & Weighted SEE!

THIS OFFERING: One of the most sought after Real Photo Postcard images of Yellowstone: three bears standing around a mid-century convertible. The travelers are standing in the car feet from the animals. RPPCs are historical and can be quite collectible. They usually began with a lucky photographer’s image (professional or not) and are then taken to be developed into a limited set of cards to be sent to friends. At times they were purchased by professional entities, but even then production was limited. Card is framed in a manner that makes it seem to “float.” The new shadow box is lined with art mat – as is the backdrop behind the image. Frame is weighted internally to make it stable free-standing on a shelf. (You could add a back wire if you prefer to hang the piece.) CONDITION: “Used” as in antique; NOT abused. Real photo postcard (considered a rare and sought after image) in excellent condition and vibrant color. Teeny teeny teeny white tip on card corners otherwise card seems near pristine. Mounted in between glass (to appear as floating) in shadow box with quality art mat behind and at sides. Moulding is new blond wood shadow bo. I see one very light 1/4″ scratch, otherwise excellent; (not large enough to be a distraction, I think). Weighted to allow it to sit on shelf or hold up small grouping of books. THIS OFFERING: “Used” as in antique; NOT abused. Extremely rare vintage original photo RPPC from Yellowstone. In 2 decades of collecting and dealing in YNP items, we’ve never seen this card before. In excellent condition, it depicts amazing co-operation between two bears and the use of a “tool.” Titled: “The Meeting of the Bear, Yellowstone. Example of our fab framing at Eccentrics: Shadow box treatment with 100 year old marble paper; historic photo corners; art matte background; solid-core acid free black top matte. Archival materials and UV protection glass. Frame is especially nice – Sleek modern two-tone metal. Frame has some rare very very light scuffing (not a distraction on the wall I think).
