SUNSHINE VILLAGE, BANFF, ALBERTA, CANADA - EXTREMELY EARLY FELT PATCH. An extremely rare find. Likely the earliest patch created for the Sunshine ski area in Banff National Park. Long before it took the name Sunshine Village. The patch has two evergreen trees in the snow, along with a large yellow sun with the rays spelling out the word "SUNSHINE". The building seen at right is a depiction of the Canadian Pacific log cabin lodge that was built in 1928 and was subsequently leased out by Jim and Pat Brewster in 1934 when they began offering ski vacations. This patch rarely if ever comes to market, certainly not in this amazing condition, as it appears to have never been sewn into a jacket. Examples of this patch can be found in the archives of the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies in Banff. NEAR MINT condition. Please see the listing photos and note the amazing detail in the patch. This patch measures approximately 3" left to right across the center and approximately 3 3/4" from top to bottom.
